| Depende.. Sa Linux kasi free na ang license kung baga open source xa..more on text base..and hnd tlaga mavirusan no nid to install antivirus.. Sa Microsoft naman closed source kaya kaylangan talaga bilhin or bayaran lahat ng softwares..more on GUI kaya mas friendly user..in terms of virus microsoft is vulnerable to viruses kaya kaylangan tlaga ng malupet na anti-virus.. Note: Sabi nga nila dito daw sa KABACAN open source daw ang microsoft kasi uso ang hiraman ng mga softwares..mahal kasi magbili ng license..haha.. | |

| yes ur ryt.. but in my opinion, there are case, kung bakit mag ubunto, or bakit mag microsoft..
ang linux free di ba.. according to the source, halos evey year mag bayad ng licence sa microsoft.. at kung marami ang unit mo, lets say 40, halos abutin ng half million magbayad lang.. hehe.. for ex., thye MISO of usm, kahit sila mismo, umiinganyo sa atin na linux ang gamitin, (if u want to save money..). dahil malaki daw tlg ang gasto nila sa licence lamang.. | |

| LINUX (Specifically Ubunutu and newer distros) has a better User Interface than Windows, specially with Beryl , all softwares needed are up for download on its "Control Panel", can even run Windows Applications and GAMES and is User Friendly - unlike the common misconception. This common misconception is for the main cause na, dahil nakasanayan na mag-Windows. But truth be told, many Windows XP users prefer Windows XP rather than Vista for the very problem of user-friendliness. This upset has forced Microsoft to force Windows users to use the new product (Vista) by ceasing the production of Windows XP softwares and licenses, even increasing the price XP, and delaying the release date of Windows XP SP3. Even the computer/laptop manufacturer DELL has specially ordered copies of XP at a price and Microsoft was slightly insulted of the order. Also on a side note, Microsoft actually pays MILLIONS as in MILLIONS of dollars just to try and improve their user interface, so no question why it can't be free. A quite new LINUX Distro known as Linspire was actually going well in terms of performance and user interface, but then Microsoft stepped in and BOUGHT the new OS, and is now known as Lindows, and is LICENSED, a few of the LINUX Distros LICENSED. Microsoft is desperately trying to remove all possible competitors aside from Mac, which has become one of their partners. | |

| As a student of the said topic itself, there is no significant difference of using different OS for servers. Ang reason why daghan nagagamit LINUX for servers is 1) Ang license for server OS is more expensive than regular OS like Windows 2003 server and licenses are renewed every few years; and 2) The number of different functions and capabilities between LINUX and Windows for networking is almost the same, so why purchase expensive software if you can get comparable performance with free software, and 3) The preconceived notion that LINUX is virus-free makes it more appealing than Windows as it makes it sound more secure, but as a matter of fact, it is a great security risk, since ALL HACKERS know how to hack LINUX systems. All in all, the OS plays little or insignificant role when it comes to networking, it all depends on the security measures and data traffic management configured on devices of the network by administrators/programmers. | |

| Mahirap siguro mag adjust sa Linux, gaya ng sinabi ni BABA before, most applications today is supported by Microsoft. Drives db? Tska sa mga Video Game enthusiast gaya ko hindi pwedeng walang VIDEO CARD ang Computer db? In terms of efficiency and performance sa Windows OS parin ako, but not VISTA. Daming bugs! Vista gamit ko ngayon dito Laptop e. Pero kung pagaaral ang linux ok lang siguro kasi freeware siya. No license needed. | |
